YMCA Swim Lessons are focused on keeping kids safe in and around water while developing confidence and skills that last a lifetime. Our programs are about more than just the techniques and skills. They are about nurturing swimming skills and developing self-esteem. When it comes to swimming and water safety, no one is trusted more than the YMCA, America's Swim Instructor. In fact, group swim instruction was developed by the YMCA in 1906.

Level 1: Parent & Child (6 months-3 years)

  • 30 minutes
  • Level 1 introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatics environment.
  • A parent or guardian must be in the water with the participant.

Level 2: Swim Basics (Beginners) (3-5 years)

  • 45 minutes
  • Level 2 increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills, while also encouraging forward movements in water.

Level 3: Swim Strokes (Intermediate) (5-9 years)

  • 45 minutes
  • Level 3 introduces basic stroke techniques and reinforces water safety and self-rescue skills performed at longer distances.

Level 4: Pathways (Advanced) (9+ years)

  • 45 minutes
  • Level 4 refines stroke techniques on all major competitive strokes and encourages swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Class days


  • Monday & Wednesday evenings: 5:45-8:45 pm
  • Monday-Thursday mornings: 9:00 am-12:00 pm
  • Saturday mornings: 9:15 am-12:15 pm
