Camp Osage-Camp Counselor (Part Time)

Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Provides direct supervision of a group of children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 17 years of age or older. Subject to a background check and fingerprints.

Camp Osage-Lead Camp Counselor

Job Description

The Lead Camp Counselor serves as a leader, role model, planner, educator and participates in the planning and implementation of the Summer Camp program. The Lead Camp Counselor will primarily focus on planning & preparing age-appropriate activities, such as sports & games, arts & crafts, and under the supervision of the Childcare Coordinator. The Lead Counselor will develop the weekly activity schedule and crafts for ages 5-12. The Lead Counselor is also responsible for the planning and instruction for all arts & crafts projects for the entire summer camp program. In addition, the Lead Counselor will assist the Childcare Coordinator with the daily operations & procedures, serves as a back-up Childcare Coordinator in the event of his/her absence.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older. Subject to a background check and fingerprints.

Camp Osage-Food Service Worker (Part Time)

Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Food Service Worker manages the camp’s food service operation within the established budget and maintains the highest standards of health and sanitation possible. Food Service Worker will assist in the ordering and preparation of food and menu planning. 

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older. Subject to a background check and fingerprints.
  • Must have effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work at times with minimal supervision.
  • Upon hire, completion of SFSP Training. (Summer Food Service Program).
  • Ability and desire to work with camp staff and other young people

  • Prior experience working in camp food service
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation

Work Conditions:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Requires ability to safely operate all necessary kitchen equipment and cleaning supplies.

Childcare Staff provide supervision of children for all programs under Childcare at the YMCA and is under direct supervision of the Child Care Coordinator along with the Associate Direct of Childcare and Community Impact. Staff will provide a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on engagement, structure, and new learning opportunities. Currently the Childcare Program consists of the following programs: After School (Y-Club) Summer Camp (Camp Osage), Spring Break Camp, Winter Break Camp, No School Days, & Child Watch. 

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older. Subject to a background check and fingerprints.
  • Previous experience working with children/or education is required. Education in early childcare or school aged children is preferred but not required.

A YMCA lifeguard monitors pool activities and ensures member safety. Lifeguards need to possess knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procedures. To help prevent incidents, lifeguards must enforce all safety guidelines as outlined by the YMCA. To ensure safety, lifeguards must remain alert throughout an entire shift.

Group Exercise Instructor
