Summer Camp Counselors

We are looking for youth development staff who enjoy working in a team environment for multiple summer camp counselor positions! Childcare Staff

Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Childcare Staff provide supervision of children for all programs under Childcare at the YMCA and is under direct supervision of the Child Care Coordinator along with the Associate Direct of Childcare and Community Impact. Staff will provide a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on engagement, structure, and new learning opportunities. Currently the Childcare Program consists of the following programs: After School (Y-Club) Summer Camp (Camp Osage), Spring Break Camp, Winter Break Camp, No School Days, & Child Watch. 

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older. Subject to a background check and fingerprints.
  • Previous experience working with children/or education is required. Education in early childcare or school aged children is preferred but not required. 
  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work at times with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. 
  • Must be willing to let your inner child shine through when working directly with our children enrolled.

Lifeguard

Job description

A YMCA lifeguard monitors pool activities and ensures member safety. Lifeguards need to possess knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procedures. To help prevent incidents, lifeguards must enforce all safety guidelines as outlined by the YMCA. To ensure safety, lifeguards must remain alert throughout an entire shift.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age or older. Subject to a background check.
  • Ability to work most times with minimal supervision.
  • Monitor pool activities and ensures member safety.

Welcome Center Representative

Job Description

A YMCA Welcome Center Representative supports all aspects of a high-quality YMCA user experience. This position handles ensuring exceptional service and assistance to YMCA members, prospective members, and guests at all times. The Welcome Center Representative will exhibit excellent communication, customer service communication, and customer service skills upholding the member experience standards.

Currently hiring for these shifts:

  • 3:00-9:00 pm shift
  • Saturdays, 8:00 am-1:00 pm
  • Sundays, 1:00-5:00 pm

Must be flexible in scheduling. Can offer full-time hours.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older. Subject to a background check.
  • Prior customer service experience is preferred.  Must have the ability to concentrate in a busy atmosphere and adjust to a constantly changing work environment.

Group Exercise Instructor

Custodial Worker

Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Custodian would assume direct duties of night janitorial duties for an assigned center.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18. 
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check 
  • Experience in custodial work; or an equivalent combination of training and experiences which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
  • Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions
  • Ability to demonstrate detailed work with frequent interruptions. 
  • Ability to meet tight time constraints and organize tasks to meet deadlines

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for completing daily housekeeping/sanitizing work schedule in all assigned areas
  • Perform floor care and cleaning which may include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and stairs and baseboard scrubbing
  • Cleaning of windows, window and door framework cleaning
  • Perform restrooms (possible locker rooms) cleaning/sanitation to the following: showers, partitions, toilets, urinals, sinks, counters, and changing rooms.
  • Basic cleaning of equipment
  • Perform trash removal as needed
  • Assist in maintaining and clean grounds, parking lots, and sidewalk including trash removal, snow removal and ice-melt application
  • May assist with set up and cleanup of rooms for special events, including carrying and lifting chairs and tables
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for use
  • Assists with cleaning wellness equipment and rotation, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Fitness Center Attendant

Job Description

The Fitness Center Attendant is welcoming, connecting, and supporting members as they ask questions on equipment. This position sanitizes all fitness areas including studios and ensures equipment is orderly. Fitness Center Attendant is also responsible for new member orientations. 

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Completion of CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications provided by the Y. 
  • Child Abuse Prevention training is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous Fitness Center or Fitness Related experience is preferred
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
